Carni Sostenibili is now an official “Endorser” of the Protein Pact. But what is it? Let’s get to know this great new international alliance for animal proteins.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Human has always relied on animals to produce the food he needs. Today we depend on them more than ever to obtain the <\/span>proteins and nutrients<\/b> the world’s population needs. The demand for these <\/span>precious resources<\/b> increases daily, and along its journey from field to table, <\/span>food impacts<\/b> land, air and water. This is why producing meat, poultry, eggs and dairy products using less land, water, and energy has never been so important.<\/span><\/p>\n

For this purpose, the <\/span>Protein PACT – For the People, Animals and Climate of Tomorrow<\/b><\/a> was born. The PACT is an <\/span>international alliance<\/b> between the largest organizations in the <\/span>animal proteins<\/b> field that join in the greatest effort ever seen to produce <\/span>nutritious food for all<\/b>, respecting <\/span>animal welfare<\/b>, the land, the water and the air. All this protects the work of the people employed in the <\/span>livestock sector<\/b>. In short, a pact for the <\/span>populations<\/b>, the <\/span>animals<\/b> and the <\/span>climate<\/b> of tomorrow. In one single word: <\/span>sustainability<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Through the <\/span>Protein PACT<\/b>, companies and organizations in meat and dairy production, animal feed, etc., work together to make the <\/span>animal source food<\/b> more sustainable and <\/span>available to future generations<\/b>, which will continue to benefit from good food and <\/span>balanced nutrition<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n.@TheProteinPACT is an international alliance of #AnimalProtein organizations coming together to produce nutritious #food for all, while respecting #AnimalWelfare, #land, #water and #air. <\/a><\/span>Share on X<\/a><\/span>\n

To achieve this vision, partner organizations (including now <\/span>Carni Sostenibili<\/b>, which recently became an “<\/span>Endorser<\/b>” of this initiative) work together to define and achieve <\/span>ambitious goals<\/b>, align with global goals and commit to <\/span>communicating efforts proactively and transparently<\/b>. Meat, poultry, eggs and dairy products are the main sources of <\/span>high-quality animal protein<\/b> and essential nutrients that cannot be missing in a healthy diet: <\/span>farmers and processors <\/b>are central to ensuring the continuity of the production of these foods.<\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/span>objectives of the Protein PACT<\/b> range from guaranteeing balanced diets and feeding as many people as possible to providing <\/span>the highest number of jobs<\/b>, from upholding the <\/span>highest standards of animal welfare<\/b> to strengthening the commitment of farmers, breeders and processors in <\/span>saving energy and water<\/b> and keeping a healthy and <\/span>fertile soil<\/b>, until the implementation of all supporting practices in the transition to the much-desired (in the EU) climate neutrality.<\/span><\/p>\n

The North American Meat Institute (NAMI) stands out as the project leader among all Pact’s partner organisations. NAMI<\/strong> is committed to giving impetus to each of the project’s five areas of interest: <\/span>environment and planet<\/b>, <\/span>animal welfare<\/b>, <\/span>work and human rights<\/b>, <\/span>food safety<\/b>, <\/span>health and well-being<\/b>. NAMI is also tasked with measuring the <\/span>environmental impact of all members<\/b> according to standard indicators and metrics and verifying the progress made in achieving the goals planned by 2025 and 2030.<\/span><\/p>\nThrough @TheProteinPACT, the @MeatInstitute creates a #database with data from #meat companies, to have the first set of #data that transparently reveals and evaluates the status of each company in the sector to improve them. <\/a><\/span>Share on X<\/a><\/span>\n

In practice, <\/span>through the Protein PACT, NAMI creates for the first time a database with all the data of meat companies<\/b>, to have the first data set ever that reveals and evaluates with <\/span>transparency<\/b> the status of each company in the sector, to guide it to improve itself and to achieve the common goals set.<\/span><\/p>\n

Their <\/span>first 2022 report<\/span><\/a>, with the first data set, marked a milestone in this path of <\/span>continuous improvement for all members<\/b> involved in this initiative. The spirit is to publicly show and verify progress towards common goals in the five areas of the <\/span>Global Sustainability Framework<\/b>, promoting and implementing best practices to fill gaps and address weaknesses.<\/span><\/p>\n
