In recent years the consumption of meat has become the subject of much attention and debate, especially related to nutritional and environmental issues. With the presentation of the Environment Hourglass and this comprehensive report on the sustainability of meat in Italy, the major trade associations want to express their point of view, providing a clear and comprehensive synthesis of knowledge and the latest technical and scientific guidance about meat sustainability under different keys of analysis: nutritional, environmental, economic and social.

The aim of the document is not to convince those who for indisputable personal reasons choose not to eat meat but to reassure those who, just as consciously, choose to include in their diet all foods available, informing them that the products they eat are safe and if consumed in a balanced manner will have no adverse impacts on health and environmental and economic sustainability.
